Let’s keep ourselves up to date! Here’s a quick list of a few of the latest singles out in these days. Old names, new tracks. Looks like pop is back for vengeance this month…
Bisogna essere sempre sul pezzo! Ecco una lista veloce di alcuni singoli usciti negli ultimi giorni. Perlopiù vecchi nomi, ma con nuovi brani. Sembra che questo mese il pop sia tornato a vendicarsi…
1) Iggy Azalea feat. Jennifer Hudson, “Trouble” (album: Reclassified)
I like this one!! Let’s start with a cool song by Iggy Azalea featuring Jennifer Hudson: “Trouble” is a joyful track where the rapper keeps the rhythm going all along, but it’s Jennifer’s voice during the chorus that gives meaning to the song. I like this featuring, especially how you jump from J Hud’s voice tricks to Iggy rapping behind her, it’s fun. And it comes along with a appropriate retro-styled video!
Iniziamo con Iggy Azalea e Jennifer Hudson: “Trouble” è un brano allegro e spensierato, dove la rapper detta il ritmo dall’inizio, ma che diventa davvero interessante quando si unisce Jennifer nel ritornello. Mi piace questa collaborazione, soprattutto il fatto che si passi repentinamente dai trucchetti vocali della Hudson al rap di Iggy sullo sfondo, è divertente. E arriva insieme ad un appropriatissimo video dallo stile spiccatamente retrò!
2) Carly Rae Jepsen, “I Really Like You” (album: E .MO.TION)
The next one is not particularly of my taste but I’m so bewildered by the video that I must share. “Call Me Maybe” was Carly Rae Jepsens’s mind-sticking ear-numbing big hit and I feel this new single kinda wants to use the same trick. The track “I Really Like You” hits in with some old fashioned ’80 beats, but it all goes back to the usual stuff with the chorus, quite simple and easy to remember, also cause it’s Tom Hanks singing it. The perfect pop attempt with a weird yet surprising video (although it’s more like a Tinder/FIAT/Justin Bieber) commercial. But who am I to judge… (also considering I’ve been listening to it a few times now and I actually start to like it!).
La prossima canzone non è fra le mie preferite, ma il video mi ha sorpreso così tanto che lo voglio condividere. “Call Me Maybe” di Carly Rae Jepsen è stato un successone anche grazie alla sua capacità di attaccarsi alla corteccia cerebrale e fissarsi nelle orecchie per non uscirne mai, e mi sembra che questo secondo singolo voglia usare lo stesso trucco. Il brano “I Really Like You” inizia con un ritmo vecchio stile, ma poi torna subito al presente con il ritornello non particolarmente originale e quindi semplice da ricordare, soprattutto se a cantarlo è Tom Hanks. Il perfetto tentativo pop con un video assurdo ma allo stesso tempo sorprendente (anche se è una sciolinata di pubblicità occulte, fra cui Tinder, FIAT e Justin Bieber..?). Ma chi sono io per giudicare? (E poi ora che l’ho ascoltata due o tre volte inizia pure a piacermi!)
3) Mumford & Sons, “The Wolf” (album: Wilder Mind)
Quickly changing genre, here’s a band many of us have been waiting to hear again for a long time. And they haven’t let us down, coming back with a super super super good song. I’m talking about “The Wolf” by Mumford And Sons. Rock yet romantic, this track is highly addictive. They confirm once again their music is good, quality stuff. Can’t wait to hear more.
Cambiando genere repentinamente, ecco una band che molti di noi aspettavano di risentire da molto tempo. E come previsto non ci hanno deluso, tornando sulle scene con una canzone stupenda. Sono i Mumford and Sons con “The Wolf”. Una canzone rock ma romantica, da ascoltare in loop. Confermano nuovamente che la loro musica è sempre di grande qualità.
4) Clean Bandit, “Stronger” (album: New Eyes special edition)
Next up is the Clean Bandit gang with a new probably chart topping hit, a usual positive-vibe, dance-ish, well sung track, this time called “Stronger”. Love the vocals, love the fact that you can always hear their classical instruments somewhere along, love that they always make me smile.
I prossimi in lista sono i Clean Bandit con quello che probabilmente sarà il loro ennesimo successone: un brano come sempre allegro e ottimista, vagamente dance, ben cantato. Si chiama “Stronger”, e mi piace molto l’interpretazione vocale, il fatto che qua e là si possano sempre distinguere i loro strumenti classici e soprattutto che riescono sempre a strapparmi un sorriso.
5) Raleigh Ritchie, “The Greatest” (album: TBC)
Guess who is gonna be both on your Tv AND radio in these next few months? Yes, Raleigh Ritchie aka Greyworm from the famous tv series “Game Of Thrones”, airing the new episodes in these days. In the meantime to keep himself busy he has also provided us with a new single, “The Greatest”, while he works on his full album, hopefully due later this year. We had already noticed this young actor’s ability as a singer with his past products (“Cuckoo”, “Stronger Than Ever”, etc), but we like this song even better! Positive Vibes.. Our song for this spring!!!
Indovinate chi riempirà sia la vostra TV che la vostra radio? Raleigh Ritchie, altresì detto Greyworm, personaggio della celebre serie tv “Game Of Thrones” le cui puntate della nuova serie sono in programma per questi giorni. Nel frattempo per tenersi sempre occupato ci ha presentato anche un nuovo singolo, “The Greatest”, mentre lavora al suo primo album in uscita verso la fine di quest’anno. Avevamo già notato il suo talento con le canzoni precedenti (“Cuckoo”, “Stronger Than Ever”, ecc), ma questa qui è ancora meglio! Vibrazioni positive, la nostra canzone “presa bene” per questa primavera!
6) Florence + The Machine, “Ship To Wreck” (album: How Big How Blue How Beautiful)
Straight from the stage of the Coachella Festival 2015 (my heart is still aching for having once again lost this great event!), Florence presented the new video for her latest track, “Ship To Wreck”. Still quite dynamic, perfectly in line with the previous release, she once again depicts a struggling soul: “Did I drink to much? Am I losing touch? Have I built a ship to wreck?”. The video has her as the main character again, playing the part of a woman losing hold on herself inside her own home.
Direttamente dal palco del Coachella Festival 2015 (il mio cuore soffre ancora moltissimo del fatto che mi sia persa anche quest’anno il grande evento!), Florence ha presentato il video del loro nuovo singolo, “Ship To Wreck”. Sempre molto movimentato, in linea con il brano precedente, ancora una volta racconta di un’anima irrisolta: “Did I drink to much? Am I losing touch? Have I built a ship to wreck?” (trad.: “Ho bevuto troppo? Sto perdendo il contatto? Ho costruito una nave da affondare?”). Il video vede nuovamente lei come personaggio principale, nel ruolo di una donna che perde se stessa all’interno delle proprie mura domestiche.
