WHAT A NIGHT. We managed to attend the Brit Awards 2015 at the O2 Arena in London and it was a blast. We were sitting closer to Mars than to the stage, but you know, you get what you give. While we were adjusting our binoculars up on our mountain top, at the center of the arena a luxurious LED catwalk was set up and all around it stood the elegant tables full of good wine and celebrities. It’s like spying on someone else’s party, but that’s the closest I’ll ever get to Sam Smith&co so I can’t really complain. Hanging in the middle of the space, were handwritten neon words such as “Thankyou” and “Congratulations”, which were lifted up and down throughout the show.
Che serata! Siamo riuscite a presenziare ai Brit Awards 2015 alla O2 Arena a Londra ed e’ stato grandioso. I nostri posti erano piu’ vicini a Marte che al palco, ma la vita e’ quel che e’ e non mi posso lamentare. Mentre aggiustavamo i binocoli dal cucuzzolo della nostra montagna, al centro dell’arena e’ stata allestita una lussuosa passerella LED attorno alla quale erano disposti infiniti tavoli imbanditi pieni di buon vino e celebrita’. E’ come spiare la festa di qualcun’altro, ma non saro’ mai piu’ vicina di cosi’ a Sam Smith e compagnia cantante (letteralmente) quindi di nuovo, non mi posso proprio lamentare. Al centro sono state appese parole composte da tubi di neon quali “Thankyou” e “Congratulations”, che sono state alzate a abbassate nel corso dello spettacolo.
The Performances
When the show started Ant&Dec’s faces popped out on a serving plate and that was the official kick off of the gala. First performance: Taylor Swift. Beautiful as always, she gave us a quite simple performance of her song “Blank Space”: total black outfit and a group of handsome dancers. Pop Minimal Chic!
Come prima cosa le facce di Ant&Dec ci sono state presentate su un piatto d’argento (letteralmente!) e cosi’ e’ stato dato il via allo spettacolo. Prima performance: Taylor Swift. Bella come sempre, ci ha proposto il suo ultimo singolo “Blank Space” con una esibizione semplice, in outfit total black e con un gruppo di ottimi ballerini. Pop Minimal Chic!
Keeping the bar of elegance quite high, the next performance was from Sam Smith and a total white orchestra singing “Lay Me Down”. Beautiful and emotional. This has been his night!
Next off, rock band Royal Blood have brought down the house with “Figure It Out”. Red neon lights, strong guitar and good percussions. So powerful!
The other great winner of the night, Ed Sheeran, sung “Bloodstream”. It was just him and the guitar. Loved it, especially when he used his instrument as percussions. And his vocals! So nice.
Kim Kardashian herself came to introduce her husband’s performance. Yeah, that’s when he arrived on stage with other thirty men dressed in black and with two, TWO, flame throwers. As in, real fire. A really badass interpretation of “All Day”.

Following Kanye’s ehm, bold jump on stage was a totally different performance. Take That with “Let In The Sun”, a simple yet effective show with hippie-style dancers and lots of love and positivity. That’s what you call a heterogeneous group of performers.
Tenendo alto il livello di eleganza, l’artista successivo e’ stato Sam Smith accompagnato da un’orchestra totalmente bianca (strumenti compresi) con “Lay Me Down”. Bravo e emozionante. E’ stata proprio la sua serata.
Dopo sono stati i Royal Blood a far tremare l’arena, con “Figure It Out”. Luci rosse, una chitarra potente e batteria a manetta. Grandissimi.
L’altro grande vincitore della serata, Ed Sheeran, ha presentato il suo singolo “Bloodstream”. Erano solo lui e la sua chitarra. Bella performance, soprattutto quando ha utilizzato lo stesso strumento anche per le percussioni. E ha una voce pazzesca quindi l’insieme era ottimo.
Kim Kardashian in persona e’ spuntata per presentare suo marito, il quale e’ salito sul palco con una trentina di ragazzi vestiti di nero e due, ripeto due, lancia fiamme. Cioe’ hanno realmente sparato fuoco. Un’interpretazione di “All Day” da veri bulli…
Dopo lo show come dire, ehm, profondo di Kanye il genere e’ cambiato drasticamente. I Take That hanno presentato “Let In The Sun”, un’esibizione semplice ma efficace con un gruppo di ballerini in stile hippie, della serie pace amore ed empatia. Questo e’ quel che si definisce uno spettacolo eterogeneo!
Next off was George Ezra and his deep voice singing his hit “Budapest”. Nothing new, to be honest, but always a pleasure to hear him sing.
Paloma Faith performed her old song “Only Love Can Hurt Like this”, awesome show under a shower of water that rained over her and over three couples of modern dancers. Quite dramatic, it actually added value to the already powerful song.
And finally… Last but not least. After 20 years Madonna was back on stage at the Brits. The expectations were high but the result was even better. First of all, let me say we are for #teamMadonna. She is an incredible artist and has confirmed it also with this performance. Everybody has seen her fall down on stage, when the back dancer pulled a little to much in the attempt to remove her cape. She actually flew down three steps! But nonetheless, she continued and actually did a great job. The song said “Lifted me up, and watched me stumble. After the heartache, I’m gonna carry on” and so she did. Good job Miss Ciccone, you have been a great example of strength and professionality.

A seguire George Ezra, che con il suo caratteristico timbro vocale ha cantato “Budapest”. Niente di nuovo a dire il vero, ma e’ sempre una gioia sentirlo cantare.
Paloma Faith ha cantato uno dei suoi primi singoli “Only Love Can Hurt Like This”, sotto una pioggia d’acqua che ha coperto lei e i ballerini. Molto emozionante e drammatica, devo dire che ha aggiunto valore a una canzone gia’ di per se molto potente.
E finalmente, ultima ma non per merito, dopo 20 anni Madonna e’ tornata sul palco dei Brits. Le aspettative erano molto alte ma il risultato e’ stato ancora migliore. Innanzitutto lasciatemi dire che io sono una fan del #TeamMadonna. E un’artista incredibile e lo ha confermato con questa performance.
